Farewell and New Beginnings

Farewell and New Beginnings

IFT, for those of you who are unfamiliar with this acronym it stands for International Food Technologist.  This is an organization that brings together the food industry.  Every year a conference is held that showcases different companies and groups within the Food Industry.  This is a conference meant for learning, as well as building your company or establishing connections and networking.  However you view IFT, it’s the one time a year you get the largest number of Food Industry professionals all together.

I was honored this year to present with a group of fellow professionals about GMO and Clean Label.  The presentation was divided into areas of expertise, one evaluating the trends on the topic, while others including myself dove into the technical side.  My presentation focused on the aspect of using Fruit Juice Concentrates as a sweetener replacement option.  I was able to share my knowledge of fruit juice and the many uses it can provide in making a “cleaner” label for a consumer product.  This was a great experience for me to be able to reach out to other professionals and share my knowledge of fruit juice and other technical aspects of blending with fruit.

This was also a great way for me to bring my 13 years at Northwest Naturals to a close.  I have decided to take a position at another company to further enhance my product development skills.  As I reflect on my time spent with Northwest Naturals and Tree Top I am filled with mixed emotions.  I came to Northwest Naturals right out of college, very green and knowing nothing about juice or the food industry.  I have learned and grown so much over those 13 years and know that I would not be where I am today without the guidance and knowledge that has been shared with me over the years by so many people at these amazing companies.  Northwest Naturals will always have a piece of me and will always be my first Home.

Thank you to all who have shared this amazing journey with me and best of luck to all!

Cheers
